Electric Ray
Click on magnifying glass icons for larger sized images
The stingrays and eagle rays that New Zealand divers often encounter normally swim away when approached but this electric ray (Torpedo fairchildi) swam around us for some time and allowed me to take lots of photos of it whilst carefully keeping myself out of zapping range.

Blue-eyed Triplefin
You really need to plant yourself on the bottom and focus on teeny stuff if you're going to to make friends with one of these blue-eyed triplefin (Notoclinops segmentatus). Cute or what?

Zoanthids
These Zoanthids are normally found growing in clusters on vertical walls. Here however I think they have colonised a dead gorgonian skeleton branching out from deeper wall at the Poor Knights Islands.

Mosaic Moray
With those big sharp teeth he does look kind of mean doesn't he? Truth is, these Mosaic Morays (Enchelycore ramosa) are no more likely to viciously bite you than my cat is.
