Resting
beneath the aquamarine waters of the Cavalli Islands on New Zealand's
north east coast is the Rainbow Warrior. Once the pride of the Greenpeace
fleet, she now creates a home for thousands of marine organisms and
is a memorial to the the state sponsored terrorism of la République
; lest we should forget.
Now the ship is blanketed beneath a lush community of tiny encrusting
organisms providing many an opportunity for the intrepid underwater
photographer.

Black
Coral
On
2 July, 1996, Keith and Skip discover this small black coral tree
in amazingly shallow water (25m) and very close to the coast at Hahei.
In northern New Zealand waters, black coral normally only occurs at
depths of 45m+ and around off shore islands, pinnacles or deep reefs.
