My camera had been rested for several months while I learned to use my
new Inspiration rebreather. On the camera's first outing with the breather
I find this small Tritonina flemingi nudibranch.
It's the second time that I've ever found one of these seldom seen slugs.
At about 12mm long the slug is pretty small and I can't really see what
it's up to but I click off a series of shots.
On reviewing the photos it seems that Tritonia flemingi has
lined up an octocoral polyp for lunch and in the space of a few seconds
has engulfed the unsuspecting polyp.

This guy is very small - perhaps 5 mm long. He appears to be preying on octocoral polyps, probably Clavularia novaezealandiae. When one polyp is attacked, other polyps belonging to the same colony also retract.
