Dive Number 1315
Blue Mao Mao Arch
Poor Knights Islands
I'd done a night dive in Riko Riko Cave two weeks earlier but didn't find any Janolus ignis.
On this night dive at Blue Mao Mao Arch I was on the lookout for Janolus ignis and what-do-you-know, only a couple of minutes into the dive I spot the first one. They're quite dark in colour, about 25mm long, and are very easy to spot.
Soon I see another and then find they're all over the place, at least 30 or 40 of them. They're certainly not there during the day or at least, they're hidden away in cracks.
Most are a dark claret-red colour but some are a more pale, almost orange colour. |
